  • HELPLESS

“Helpless,” for when it’s all over except for the shouting.

    Vocals: Aubrey Haddard

Rough Mix from the album, BETTER LATE… (release date - Spring 2021)

    Helpless

What can we tell our friends,

Now that we’ve reached the end?
In a peculiar way, I feel we’ve let them down.

    You mother’s bound to frown.

“People gave it more in our day,”
    She’ll say.

    And I feel helpless.

    I feel so helpless.

    Helpless like a lost child

    Playing in the park,

    And it’s getting dark.

Guess I’ll try to find my way back home

    Alone,

    And feeling helpless.

    No one touches anymore.

    We scarcely say hello.

Meals for one last too long.

    Evenings pass too slow.

    You can have the records.

I guess that leaves the books.

It’s only stuff, but still it’s tough.

And Babe, you’ve still got your looks.

You could take that trip to Italy.
    We’re free,

    And I feel helpless.

    No one trusts much anymore.

    We scarcely say hello.

Meals for one last too long.

    Evenings pass too slow.

Please don’t say you love me.

    I know you’re still a friend.

Both of us will make out fine.

At least it’s not a bitter end.

We always tried to hide the truth away.

    But not today.

    No more helpless.

    Please, no more helpless.

    I feel so helpless.
