“Still Here”

Vocals: Mark Campbell

Rough Mix from the album, BETTER LATE… (release date - Spring 2021)

Still Here

Like the bridge that collapsed over San Luis Rey,

A mountain of grief has descended on me.

When tragedy rolled over all of our souls,

No one got away unaffected.

The sun rose in the east, in the usual way,

Nobody awakened expecting to die.

No one foresaw what the mountain would take.

I get how it happened, but not why.

It’s been a long, difficult year.

A journey through darkness,

Heart-ache and fear.

But I don’t feel defeated,

And I won’t disappear.

And I’m here, thank God.

Thank God I’m still here.

We been schooled by disaster, for all we endured

We’re here for each other, we’re partners in pain.

To feel in our bones that nothing’s assured

Is a truth that we’re living, every day.

It’s been a long, difficult year.

A journey through darkness,

Heart-ache and fear.

But I don’t feel defeated,

And I won’t disappear.

And I’m here, thank God.

Thank God I’m still here.

A gloomy peace this morning with it brings.

Though the rain beats on, the sun will rise again.

Go home, if you have one, and move through

these sad things.

There’ll be sunsets, and blessings,

And even laughter, I swear

It’s been a long, difficult year.

A journey through darkness,

Heart-ache and fear.

It’s been a hard - in some ways

A terrible year.

But I’m here, thank God.

Thank God I’m still here.

Yes I’m here, thank God.

Thank God I’m still here.
