“The Blue Candle,” a song about grief, and the way forward.

Rough Mix from the album, BETTER LATE… (release date - Spring 2021)
The Blue Candle
Count your blessings.
Light a candle, watch it burn.
Flick’ring gently through the night,
And as the seasons turn.
It’s the inner flame of hope,
Protection against fear.
It’s my proof against the darkness,
Wishing you were here.
The enormity of loss,
Yellow light encased in blue,
On this day when I remember you.
Though I knew this day would come,
I’m unprepared.
In the dark, all alone
And feeling scared
And now, encased in blue,
There’s a candle burns for you.
I yearn for you, and in that flame I see
A fragile truth, that you live on,
And I know full well you’re gone,
As I understand that you have not left me.
I count my blessings,
Light a candle, watch it burn.
Flick’ring gently through my life,
And as the seasons turn, and turn.
My inner flame, my hope
Protection against fear,
A prayer against the darkness -
How I wish that you were here.
The enormity of my loss,
Yellow light encased in blue,
On this day when I remember you.
On this day, and every day,
When I remember you.
